Mad Science and Reading with Robin will the next round of programs for Flora Public Library’s Summer Reading Program. Robin Brooks, of US Bank, will be reading stories to children at 2:30 on Wednesday, June 21.
On Thursday, June 22 at 6:30 pm, Mad Science of St. Louis will be educating and entertaining area children with their “Fire and Ice” program. Using foggy dry ice storms, giant beach balls floating in air and magic “burp” potion, Mad Science will teach children about the science of chemical reactions, air pressure and the states of matter.
As always, programs at the library are free of charge and open to everyone. Reading with Robin is brought to us courtesy of the US Bank Community Outreach Program. Mad Science is co-sponsored by the Flora Public Library and the Friends of the Flora Public Library.

For the next few months, Flora Public Library will be presenting a series of history programs called The Amazing Americans History Series. Six people will provide programs about prominent people from America’s past. All programs are absolutely free and everyone is welcome to attend.
The first program will be Thursday, June 15, at 6:30 pm.
David Wolfe, of Owensboro, KY, has been a storyteller for most of his life. He is the founder of the Owensboro Ghost Walk Tour Company and is a Civil War re-enactor. He has a history degree from Brescia University and travels the country teaching about the past, according to his website, www.davidwolfe.us.
For this program, he will embody Benjamin Franklin, who was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. A renowned person of wide-ranging knowledge and learning, Franklin was a leading author, printer, political theorist, politician, Freemason, postmaster, scientist, inventor, civic activist, statesman, and diplomat.

As part of the annual Summer Reading Program at the Flora Public Library, Animal Tales, a live animal program, will be performing on Monday, June 5 at 3:30PM in the afternoon. This year’s program, Animal Architects will feature a variety of exotic animals from across the globe that utilize very unique abilities to build and construct as part of their survival in the wild. Among the animals expected to appear will be a timber or grey wolf pup, a Lanner falcon, a Rococo Toad, a Honduran milksnake, a Chaco tarantula and either a coatimundi or a four-eyed opossum. Be prepared to get up-close and personal learning about these very constructive critters. The Friends of the Flora Public Library is co-sponsoring this program. This program is free and open to all.
On Wednesday, June 7 at 2:30PM in the afternoon, Robin Brooks, Branch Manager of the local US Bank will be reading to local children at the library. This will be the first of several “Reading with Robin” storytimes scheduled for the summer. These programs are coming to the library courtesy of the US Bank Community Outreach Program. All of this summer programs at the library are free and open to everyone.
It’s Almost Summer Reading Time!!!
Flora Public Library’s “Read By Design” Summer Reading Program & registration begins, Friday, May 19th at 10:00am.
Kids and Adults alike can participate in this year’s summer reading program with the use of a valid Flora Public Library library card. Registration forms will be made available on May 19th.

LIBRARY TO HOST FIRST AUTHORS BOOK FAIR
Flora Public Library will host the 2017 Local Authors Book Fair in May! The Authors Book Fair will be Saturday, May 20, from 10:00 am-2:00 pm. Authors will have their work on display in both the community room and main library. Light refreshments will be served and a drawing for door prizes will be held after 2:00 pm.
