LIBRARY SPONSORS 8th ANNUAL PET FOOD DRIVE

The Flora Public Library, in cooperation with Fur a Good Paws, will be sponsoring a pet food drive, “Feed the Furry,” again this year.  The library’s 8th annual pet food drive begins Monday, September 18 and will end Friday,  October 27.  October is Adopt-A-Pet month, too.

Pet food items, suitable for dogs or cats, may be dropped off at the library during regular operating hours.  Currently, kitten chow is needed most but all pet food is welcomed.  In addition to food, donations of clumping and non-clumping cat litter, nitrile gloves, paper towels, Clorox Wipes, vinegar, bleach, laundry detergent and dish soap, would be very helpful.

Fur a Good Paws is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Clay County that provides a licensed no-kill rescue that cares for homeless pets. The group is grateful to have received a donated building that is being remodeled as its rescue and pet adoption center. The cat area is finished and they are currently remodeling the dog area which should be finished by the end of November.  The group promotes spaying/neutering and pet adoptions to reduce the number of homeless pets in the community. For more information, visit http://www.furagoodpaws.org/.  They are also on Facebook.

Hours at the library are:  Monday – Thursday 1:30 to 8:30, Friday 10:00 to 6:00 and Saturday 10:00 to 3:00.  For more information please call the library at 662-6553.  Donated items will assist Fur a Good Paws in helping rescue animals and other needy dogs and cats.  Please help our four-footed friends by giving to “Feed the Furry”.
