Perry\, will present “10 Money Rules to Live By\,” a presentation on avoiding financial exploitation. The presentation is hosted by the Flora Public Library.\n\n\nThe presentation will cover identity theft\, scam calls\, internet scams\, consumer and home repair fraud\, power of attorney abuse\, guardian abuse and other examples of financial exploitation and elder fraud. Perry will discuss these forms of abuse and present practical tips for safeguarding against them.\n\n\nPerry runs the Elder Justice for Rural Illinoisans Project at Equip for Equality\, whose mission is to advance the human and civil rights of people with disabilities in Illinois.\n\n\nThe presentation is free to everyone and focuses on fraud and exploitation aimed at seniors. Many older adults have special protections under the Americans with Disabilities Act that they are not even aware of from conditions such as diabetes\, cancer\, dementia or hearing loss.
