Main St.\, Flora.  The sale will be from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm\, in the library conference room. \nAnyone wishing to contribute to the book sale may bring items to the east door of Flora Public Library during regular library hours.  Hours are Monday – Thursday 1:00-8:00pm\, Friday 10:00am-6:00pm and Saturday 10:00am-3:00pm.  The library owns a handcart to assist individuals in bringing the materials in. \nFor more information\, call the library at (618) 662-6553.

Perry\, will present “10 Money Rules to Live By\,” a presentation on avoiding financial exploitation. The presentation is hosted by the Flora Public Library.\n\n\nThe presentation will cover identity theft\, scam calls\, internet scams\, consumer and home repair fraud\, power of attorney abuse\, guardian abuse and other examples of financial exploitation and elder fraud. Perry will discuss these forms of abuse and present practical tips for safeguarding against them.\n\n\nPerry runs the Elder Justice for Rural Illinoisans Project at Equip for Equality\, whose mission is to advance the human and civil rights of people with disabilities in Illinois.\n\n\nThe presentation is free to everyone and focuses on fraud and exploitation aimed at seniors. Many older adults have special protections under the Americans with Disabilities Act that they are not even aware of from conditions such as diabetes\, cancer\, dementia or hearing loss.

DESCRIPTION:Flora Public Library is pleased to announce that Ray Bruzan will be signing copies of his book “Have Violin\, Will Travel” on Thursday\, August 25th\, 2022. \nAuthor Ray Bruzan’s 2021 book\, Have Violin\, Will Travel – The Louis Persinger Story\, traces the genealogy of Louis Persinger’s ancestors in Southern Illinois and Indiana.  The author explores Louis Persinger’s education\, his concert performances in Europe and America\, his teaching of prominent violinists in America\, and his 36 years as a Professor of Violin at the Juilliard in New York City. \nThe book signing will begin at 4:30 pm and the PowerPoint program will begin at 6:00 pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend.
